2. Account Opening

2.1 How do I open an account with VC Brokerage ? |
|
|
Please call us at (852) 2913 6332. You will be required to complete and return the account opening documents to VC Brokerage . |
|
|
|
|
2.2 What types of account can I open with VC Brokerage ? |
|
|
You can open either a Cash Account, Custody Account or Margin Account with VC Brokerage. However, only Custody Account and Margin Account can be used for internet trading. Further, internet orders would only be accepted for purchase when cash is available in the account and for sell only when stocks are available in the account. |
|

|
|
2.3 How can I trade local stocks through internet ? |
|
|
All you need to do is to open an account with VC Brokerage and apply internet trading services, complete and return the necessary account opening documents to VC Brokerage. We will issue and mail to you a log in password, and later a trade password. You can start to trade through internet after depositing the required cash or securities into your account. |

3. About Trading
|
|
|
|
3.1 What can I trade through VC Brokerage ? |
|
|
You can buy and sell securities listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange through the internet trading platform of VC Brokerage, . Through our account executives you can also buy or sell certain foreign securities. |
|
|
|
|
3.2 Can I place a "Good Till Cancel" order ? |
|
|
No, you cannot place a "Good Till Cancel" order. Please refer below for the order validity period. |
|
|
|
|
3.3 For how long will an order instruction be valid ? |
|
|
Under normal circumstances, orders placed during trading hours sent to the related Exchange immediately, and are valid until end of trading for the day unless rejected. Orders placed after trading hours, unless rejected, are valid for the next trading day. Please observe the message from VC Brokerage after you place your order instruction every time. |
|
|
|
|
3.4 Under what circumstances will my order instruction be rejected ? |
|
|
Under normal circumstances, your order instruction will be rejected if:
- there is insufficient cash in your account to settle a securities buy order (including charges) or to satisfy the margin requirement for a futures order;
- there is insufficient securities to settle a securities sell order; or
- your order instruction is rejected by the related Exchange. |
|
|
|
|
3.5 Can I place a Market order ? |
|
|
No, all orders must be a Price Limit order. |
|
|
|
|
3.6 Will an order be automatically submitted later if the order price is presently out of range ? |
|
|
No, order submitted and rejected because the price is out of range will not be automatically submitted later. Order that is rejected will be cancelled and is no longer valid. You will have to submit the order again when the price is within the range. |
|
|
|
|
3.7 Can I short sell at VC Brokerage over internet ? |
|
|
VC Brokerage does not provide short selling services over internet. You can only sell securities that you own. |
|
|
|
|
3.8 Can I sell the securities purchased in the same day ? |
|
|
You can sell securities purchased through VC Brokerage in the same day. |
|
|
|
|
3.9 Why is an order still executed even when I have given an amendment or cancellation request ? |
|
|
There could be several reasons to such situations, one of which could be that the original order has been executed before your amendment or cancellation request reaches VC Brokerage or the related Exchange. |
|
|
|
|
3.10 How do I know that an order instruction has been executed ? |
|
|
You can inquire about the status of your orders through the internet trading platform of VC Brokerage or through our account executive. |
|
|
|
|
3.11 Why are the cash and securities or futures positions on the internet screen different from the sales staff's presentation ? |
|
|
Transactions not executed through the internet may not be shown on the internet screen on the trade date. Cash deposited into our bank account may also be not included on the same day. As a result, actual cash and securities or futures positions may be different from the one shown on the screen on the same day. On the next day, cash and securities positions will be updated. |

3.12 Can I amend or cancel an internet order through the sales staff ? |
|
|
Yes, if you are unable to amend or cancel an internet order, you can contact our sales staff for assistance. |
|

4. Technical
|
|
|
|
4.1 What should I do if I cannot access the internet trading platform of VC Brokerage or VC Futures ? |
|
|
If you fail to access the internet trading platform of VC Brokerage, you can contact our sales staff to place an order, obtain stock, inquire order status and account balance, and request a withdrawal. |
|
|
|
|
4.2 Why do I sometimes need to log in again ? |
|
|
To enhance security, you will be automatically log out if there is no activity for a certain period after you log in to prevent unauthorised usage. You will need to log in again in such circumstances. |
|
|
|
|
4.3 Why do I sometimes get an "Already Logged In" message after I have logged in ? |
|
|
Your account may have been used by an unauthorised user. You should contact our sales staff immediately for assistance in such circumstances. |
|
|
|
|
4.4 Is it safe to trade through internet ? |
|
|
VC Brokerage are committed to provide a safe platform for internet trading. However, there do exist certain inherent risk in trading through internet. Please read the Risk Disclosure provided by VC Brokerage in this respect. |
|
|
|
|
4.5 How can I help to enhance security ? |
|
|
To protect your interest, please ensure confidentiality of your passwords and change them at certain time intervals. Please also avoid use of passwords that are easily guessed by others. Log out after using the internet trading platform to prevent unauthorised usage. |
|
|
|
|
4.6 What security measures have VC Brokerage and VC Futures used on the internet trading platform to protect my sensitive data ? |
|
|
The internet trading platform of VC Brokerage implements the following security measures to protect your personal information:
1) Firewall
2) 128-Bit Secure Socket Layer ("SSL")
3) Dual password control |

5. Login Problem
|
|
|
|
5.1 Basic Setting |
|
|
Please verify your computer and browser settings:
* IE version 10 or above (with 128 bit cipher strength)
* Close all third party SSL encryption software |
|
|
|
|
5.2 If you cannot see the login page on the right, please try the following: |
|
|
Click [Tools] on top toolbar in Internet Explorer, then [Options]. Go to [Advanced] and try to change the settings under [Security]. The following table shows different possible combinations ("Y" denotes checked):

5.3 If you cannot see realtime quotation, please try the following: |
|

1. For IE6.0 users, click [Tools] on top toolbar in Internet Explorer, then [Internet Options]. Go into [Privacy], click [Advanced] and check the box [Override automatic cookie handling] to activate all cookies.
2. Then go into [General] and click [Delete Files], check the box [Delete all office content], press [OK] and restart your computer.
3. Non IE6.0 users are suggested to upgrade your browser to IE6.0.
4. If your computer is behind a firewall or proxy server, please ensure the TCP outgoing port 8044 is open. You may need to contact your IT department for assistance |

5.4 If you cannot see charts, please try the following: |
|
|
1. For IE6.0 users, download Microsoft VM.
2. Then go into [General] and click [Delete Files], check the box [Delete all office content], press [OK]
3. Non IE6.0 users are suggested to upgrade your browser to IE6.0. |
|
|
|
|
5.5 If you cannot see the trading applet, please try the following: |
|
|
1. Click [Tools] on top toolbar in Internet Explorer, then [Options]. Go into [Advanced], activate [JIT compiler for virtual machine],deactivate [Use JRE for applet].
2. Then go into [General] and click [Delete Files], check the box [Delete all offline content], press [OK] and restart your computer. |
|
|
Note: Not all Windows XP support Java, if you cannot find the option [JIT compiler for virtual machine], please download Microsoft VM. |
